    The future is electric

    • As far as energy transition goes, the future’s electric. One of the most visible impacts of this on our daily lives will likely be the car that we drive; but does that represent an opportunity or a threat for the roads that we use?
    • In this report we outline the role transport infrastructure can play in the replacement of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) cars with Electric Vehicles (EVs) and even Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) and its ability to provide a low-cost solution to some of the factors which are restraining consumer adoption. We also evaluate the need for innovative approaches for financing the maintenance of roads
    • We conclude that demand for mobility is likely to continue on a rising trend, and could even accelerate in some scenarios. The bad news is that this will result in additional congestion and therefore a need to either reduce demand or increase supply of road infrastructure. While car manufacturers catch the headlines, private operators of roads are at the forefront of being able to meet society’s growing desire for mobility
